終業式

MIWADA TOPICS

MIWADA TOPICS

Two years ago, when I came to Miwada, I had no idea what to expect.

I thought maybe I would only live in Japan for one year. Maybe I would miss my family too much, maybe I would not fit in well, maybe I would feel lonely. However, after only a couple of months here, I knew I couldn’t leave so soon. This school is full of the best teachers, the best staff, and the best students. Even when there was too much to do, work always felt easy because I was surrounded by so many hardworking and kind people.

To the teachers, thank you for always taking care of me. I know I was often lost and confused, especially in the beginning. Whether it was trying to find a new room, or planning a new class, I never felt that my questions were unwelcomed. I was and am still in awe of all your hard work and the care you show towards the students and fellow teachers here. The teacher’s room is such a welcoming place that is always full of good energy

To the students, respect and appreciate your teachers! They care about you so much, and it is such a beautiful thing to see and be a part of. I wish I had the opportunity to go to a school like this and study in such a welcoming environment. Also, keep on speaking English. Remember, never be afraid of your mistakes. We never learn unless we make mistakes sometimes. All the English teachers, myself included, are so happy when you speak to us in English, and we are always proud of your efforts. Don’t stop trying even when it feels the most difficult. YOU CAN DO IT! And remember, use a big voice and have 自信!

I want to say I am going to miss everything about Miwada, from the interesting questions you ask during lunch in the English room, to seeing all your amazing hard work at Bunkasai, to reading your essays. Teaching here never felt like a job, it always felt like home. So, I want to say thank you in Japanese.

Thank you for everything. And keep practicing English! Maybe one day we will meet again, and I will test you on how much you studied.
